OKFestival 2014 - Burt Lum of Hawai'i Open Data and Bytemarks Café - Interview [ 16:20 ] Play Now | Play in Popup | Download
I’m proud to say, I’ve finally met Burt Lum. Burt has been a lovely supporter of the OKCast since our inception. It was a joy to speak with Neal Bastek of Open Knowledge today and have him tell me to interview this person… who happened to be Burt!
Burt and I talk about Open Knowledge in general – what is it? What does Open Knowledge mean? What should it mean? Why’s it so confusing.
Find more about Burt Lum at www.bytemarkscafe.org and . Oh, and listen to his show – Bytemarks – on hawaiipublicradio.org.

Editor & Host at The OKCast
In addition to hosting the OKCast, I am a Ph.D. student in Youth Studies at the University of Minnesota. I study methods of making research to document injustice and resistance available to young people to create social change. My particular focus is on the political economy and ecology of data, including data collection, data use, data access/sharing, data economics, and the ideologies surrounding it.
